Do you love cats? If so, Purrmaid Cafe and Adoption Center will be your new happy place! Purrmaid is an absolute paradise for those who enjoy company of the feline variety.

Opened in 2019 as a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Purrmaid Cafe and Adoption Center provides homeless cats an alternative to the traditional shelter life. The dozen or so cats in residence have access to a large room filled with toys, scratching posts, and nice soft beds. Visitors are able to sit with the cats in this room and interact with them to the degree the cats wish. And, if a cat should not feel like interacting (we all have those days, right?), it is free to use the cat door to exit to its private quarters in the back.
Our cats are treated like the kings and queens they truly are at their temporary home here at Purrmaid. Why temporary? Because, as our motto states, "Goodbye is the goal." We hope that each and every one of our cats is able to win the heart of a responsible human who will provide it a safe and loving forever home.

So, come by and say hi to our cats. Maybe buy a cup of coffee or a water and a snack or two. And, relax. There is nothing better than the purr of a cat to calm one's mind and soul.
Reservations
We are open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Visits are $6 per person per half hour. We strongly encourage calling ahead of your visit to make reservations. As we limit the number of visitors in the cat room, we cannot guarantee a space for those who walk-in. Children 7 years old or older are welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult if younger than 13 years old. We ask that all adults and adults responsible for minors sign a waiver (found on our Forms page), which we will keep on file for future visits. We will also review our policies with you once you come to the lounge so that you and our cats will have a nice time together. Our number is (805) 419-6116. When they met in 2016, Cat (an educator) and Jeff (an attorney) dreamt that one day they would run a non-profit animal rescue. They married and soon after opened their home to old, ill, and forgotten cats and dogs. In time, they became the go-to foster family for
local rescues. Truth be told, they also became infamous foster-fails.
​
When friend and then-owner Nikki Ruhl announced she would be stepping away from Purrmaid Cafe and Adoption Center, Cat and Jeff saw the opportunity for their dream
to be realized. As the new owners of Purrmaid, they are proud to continue the work their friend started, and they are grateful to be able to give back to their community. Most importantly, they are overjoyed to give cats a loving temporary place to live until
their humans find them.
